I found this on a blog somewhere, posted by a pro photographer not happy with the photographer they hired.
“A lot of people have miserable experiences with professionals. We despaired of finding someone who didn’t think he was some big shot artist who was going to shoot the wedding as he wanted it shot. We actually got told by people that it may be our wedding, but it was their art. No. Too many photographers have an over inflated ego and sense of self importance.”
Just reminded me again that I look at photographing a wedding different than most photographers. Like them, I do care about getting great photographs, have a distinct style, have a passion for photography blah, blah, blah…. but i understand they are your pictures. I will not put myself before you. It is more important to get the photos you want than the ones I want. I won’t boss you or the wedding party. I like you to be involved in decision making and take your ideas seriously, even the ones meant to look not serious.
